Planning Further Study While You Work?

Course fees can be difficult to cover alongside everyday bills. QuickLoan’s education loan is a personal loan for working adults with a study funding shortfall, subject to assessment and approval.

Short Courses & Upskilling

A course or professional certification fits your plans, but the fees are due before you’ve saved enough.

A Diploma or Degree

You’re balancing work with further study and need to cover a tuition payment alongside household expenses.

Overseas Study Costs

Tuition, accommodation and travel add up. You need to work out the gap after savings and available support.

Plan for the full cost

What Study Expenses Can a Personal Loan Cover?

Study costs can go beyond tuition. A personal loan can help cover a shortfall in these expenses for your own or your children’s studies in Singapore, subject to assessment and approval.

Tuition & Course Fees

A payment towards your diploma, degree or other course when savings and available support leave a gap.

Professional Certifications

Short-course fees, certification assessments or exam registration costs for your chosen skills upgrade.

Textbooks & Study Materials

Required textbooks, reference materials and course supplies that are billed separately from tuition.

Essential Study Equipment

A laptop, required software or specialist equipment you need for coursework and assignments.

Children’s Studies

School fees, tuition classes and other learning expenses for your children when your savings leave a shortfall.

Borrow for the shortfall, not the whole study budget.

Confirm your fees and payment dates, then subtract savings, grants and employer support available to you. Review the loan’s fees and repayments before committing, especially if studying could reduce your working hours or income.

Applicants must be working and earning at least S$1,800 per month. We do not provide loans to unemployed applicants.

Before you borrow

Work Out Your Study Funding Gap

These three checks can help you work out what you need and plan for repayments alongside work, study and everyday bills.

  1. Confirm Costs & Due Dates

Ask your course provider for the full fees and payment schedule. Include required materials and any overseas living or travel costs.

  2. Check Available Support

Ask about course subsidies, bursaries, employer funding and instalment arrangements. Subtract confirmed support and the savings you can use to find your remaining gap.

  3. Plan for Repayments

Check repayments against your current income, household bills and existing loans. Allow for reduced working hours, without relying on a future pay rise.

Check when repayments start. Don’t assume repayments wait until graduation. Confirm the first payment date and full repayment schedule before accepting a loan.

Before you apply

Minimum Criteria for an Education Loan

Studying while you work? Check QuickLoan’s minimum age and salary requirements before starting your application.

Minimum Age

18 years old and above.

Minimum Monthly Salary

S$1,800 for Singapore Citizens, PRs and foreigners.

Student status alone does not qualify you for a loan. These are QuickLoan’s minimum application criteria, not regulatory borrowing limits. Meeting them does not guarantee approval.

Your borrowing limit

How Much Can You Borrow for Your Studies?

Qualifying borrowers may borrow up to 6× their monthly income. Your income, existing loans and ability to repay affect the amount available for your study funding gap.

Swipe horizontally to view the full table.

Maximum total unsecured borrowing across all licensed moneylenders in Singapore, based on annual income.
Monthly income Singapore Citizens & PRs Foreigners residing in Singapore
Below S$834 Up to S$3,000 Up to S$500
S$834 to S$1,667 Up to S$3,000 Up to S$3,000
S$1,667 and above Up to 6× monthly income Up to 6× monthly income
Existing borrowing counts towards your limit.

These limits apply across all licensed moneylenders combined. Existing unsecured borrowing reduces the amount you may borrow for your studies.

These are regulatory limits, not guaranteed loan amounts. QuickLoan requires a minimum monthly salary of S$1,800. Your approved amount may be lower than the regulatory maximum, depending on assessment.

Education Loan Interest, Fees & Repayments

Understand the cash you’ll receive and the total repayment cost before borrowing for your studies.

  • 4% per month, maximum

Interest is calculated on the remaining principal, which reduces as you repay it.

  • 10% of principal, maximum

Loan approval fee may be deducted when the loan is granted, leaving less cash for your study expenses.

  • 4% per month, maximum

Late interest may be charged on overdue amounts, excluding repayments that are not yet due.

  • S$60 per month, maximum

Late payment fee may apply for each month a repayment is late.

  • 100% of principal, maximum

Combined interest and fees, including late interest, approval fees and late payment fees, cannot exceed the original principal.

Check what’s available for your course fees.

Confirm the cash you’ll receive after any approval fee, along with your first repayment date and total repayments. Leave room for everyday bills and further study costs.

These are regulatory ceilings, not QuickLoan’s standard charges. Your actual interest rate, fees and repayment schedule will be explained before you sign. Court-ordered legal costs may also apply following a successful loan recovery claim.

Education Loan Questions, Answered

Is QuickLoan’s education loan a personal loan?

Yes. It is a personal loan that can be used for education expenses, including course fees and related study costs. It is different from a bank education loan or a government-supported study financing scheme.

Can I apply while studying and working?

You may apply if you meet QuickLoan’s minimum criteria: at least 18 years old with a monthly salary of S$1,800 or more. This applies to Singapore Citizens, PRs and foreigners. Approval depends on assessment of your income, existing borrowing and ability to repay.

Can a student without a salary apply?

QuickLoan requires a minimum monthly salary of S$1,800. Being enrolled in a course does not replace this requirement. If you do not meet it, ask your education provider about financial assistance, bursaries or other study funding options.

Can I borrow for a short course or professional certification?

A personal loan can cover a shortfall in short-course fees, professional certification costs or required assessments, subject to approval. Check for subsidies and employer funding before deciding how much to borrow.

Can the loan cover local or overseas study expenses?

It can be used for local or overseas study expenses, including tuition, textbooks, required equipment, accommodation and study-related travel. Your eligibility is assessed separately from where you study.

If overseas study will change your employment or income, discuss this during assessment and plan for repayments using income you can reasonably rely on.

Can foreigners apply for an education loan in Singapore?

Foreigners who meet QuickLoan’s age and salary requirements may apply, subject to assessment. Prepare your passport, S Pass or Employment Pass with at least six months’ validity remaining, and the employment and residence documents listed above.

A Student’s Pass alone does not satisfy the employment document requirements listed on this page.

How much can I borrow for my studies?

Qualifying borrowers may borrow up to 6× their monthly income, subject to regulatory limits and QuickLoan’s assessment. This is a maximum, not a guaranteed offer. Existing unsecured loans with licensed moneylenders reduce the amount available.

Can I apply if I already have another loan?

You may apply, but existing borrowing and repayment commitments affect the assessment. Regulatory unsecured borrowing limits apply across all licensed moneylenders combined. Share your current commitments so the team can assess your application.

How quickly can I receive the funds?

Same-day cash may be available after assessment, approval and completion of the loan at QuickLoan’s office. Timing depends on your application and document verification. Starting an online application does not guarantee funds before a course payment deadline.

Can I complete the whole application online?

You can start online or use Singpass to retrieve your Myinfo details. Identity verification and loan completion take place in person at our licensed office at International Plaza.

Is the loan interest-free while I study?

Do not assume QuickLoan’s personal loan includes an interest-free study period. Your interest rate, fees and repayment schedule will be explained before signing. Check the total cost rather than comparing monthly repayments alone.

Do repayments start only after graduation?

Do not assume repayments are deferred until graduation. Follow the dates in your loan agreement and confirm the first repayment date before accepting the offer.

Will the approved amount cover my full course fee shortfall?

The approved amount may be lower than you requested. Any loan approval fee deducted at disbursement also reduces the cash you receive. Confirm the net cash available before committing to a course payment.

What should I compare when choosing a study loan?

Compare eligibility, net cash received, interest and fees, total repayments, and when repayments begin. Also check whether the funding covers your chosen course and expenses. Ask your provider about assistance and payment arrangements before choosing a loan.

What if I reduce my working hours or cannot make a repayment?

Consider any expected income reduction before borrowing. If you anticipate difficulty making a repayment, contact QuickLoan as early as possible to discuss your circumstances. Changes to the repayment arrangement are not guaranteed, and late charges may apply.
